Wrexham AFC saw off local rivals Shrewsbury Town to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory.
The Red Dragons visited Shrewsbury Town for the first time in more than 15 years as the rivalry was re-ignited yesterday at the Croud Meadow Stadium.
A first half saw a strong-starting Shrewsbury attacking the visiting side – despite their attempts Arthur Okonkwo remained cool keeping the game goalless at the break.
A resurgent Wrexham returned to the pitch looking to find the opening goal of the match. The Red Dragons applied increasing pressure to the home side until the deadlock was finally broken in the 72nd minute - Tom O’Connor found the back of the net from an excellent pass from Sam Dalby. Wrexham held their nerve until the final whistle - the Red Dragons securing themselves a spot in the hat for Round Four.
