Wrexham AFC staff complete respective sections of the March of the Day route

25 March 2024

Congratulations to Phil Parkinson, Steve Parkin, Catherine Beattie, David Jones and Zoe Clair who all took part in the March of the Day for Marcus Stewart and the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

The event took place between March 22-24, with a team of ex-footballers taking on a 175-mile walking route between Bradford City and Liverpool – calling at 17 other football grounds along the way.

With the message to #AttackMND together, the aim of the walk was to raise money for research into Motor Neurone Disease. The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation was set up by former Bradford City captain Stephen Darby and RAF Veteran Chris Rimmer, both of whom have Motor Neurone Disease.

Former footballer Marcus Stewart was also diagnosed last season. The event itself has raised more than £137,000 so far, with Parkinson, Parkin, Beattie, Jones and Clair raising more than £8,000 collectively.

The Wrexham AFC first-team staff took part in the final leg from Wigan Athletic’s DW Stadium to Anfield, covering more than 17 miles, meanwhile Wrexham AFC Women's strength and conditioning coach Clair covered the route between Bolton Wanderers and Rochdale.

The walk may be over, but you can still donate to both Phil, Steve, Cat and Dave here and also Zoe’s page here.
