HER GAME TOO | Wrexham AFC vs Harrogate Town chosen to support campaign

Wrexham AFC proud to promote women in football and campaign against sexism

11 March 2024

Today is our nominated Her Game Too fixture, as we champion women in football and promote the sport at Wrexham as a game for all.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer off the pitch, with women now making up more than one in four of our non-playing staff. This covers all departments of the Football Club, providing opportunities for all staff to progress in line with the Club’s well-stated ambitions.

Her Game Too was set up by female football fans in 2021, and campaigns against sexism in sport – it has reached millions around the world and we’re pleased to be dedicating a fixture to support the campaign for a second consecutive season.

We’re also delighted to be hosting two women’s matches at the STōK Cae Ras over the coming weeks.

Wrexham AFC Women make their return to the world’s oldest international football stadium on Sunday March 24, when they host Swansea City in the Genero Adran Premier.

It will be Wrexham’s first game at the stadium since setting an FAW-record domestic attendance of 9,511 for the match against Connah’s Quay Nomads last season. Tickets for the game are on sale now.

Cymru also make their return, when we host their Women’s EURO 2025 Qualifier against Croatia on Friday April 5, which kicks off at 7.15pm. Ticket details will be confirmed in due course, and we look forward to welcoming back supporters.

Cymru’s women’s team last played at the Cae Ras in March 2020, just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic curtailed the football season, and we look forward to welcoming Rhian Wilkinson’s side again.

As part of our celebrating of International Women's Day and Her Game Too, tonight's Dragon Chat Women's Mental Health peer support group will meet in person at the The Miner's Rescue, in addition to their usual online call. If you would like to attend, the meeting starts at 8pm, or if you wish to jump on the call please see more details here.
