Young-Striker bags his first goal for Accrington Stanley

25 March 2024

Jake Bickerstaff scored his first goal for Accrington Stanley at the weekend, as he impressed in his substitute cameo against Sutton United.

He came on at the VBS Community Stadium with Stanley already trailing three goals to the good but made his mark with a smart finish five minutes from time.

It was clever link up between a substitute duo as Korede Adedoyin played a probing cross to the near post and Bickerstaff made a darting run to the near post before heading into the bottom corner.

Elsewhere in Sky Bet League Two, Billy Waters was not involved as Doncaster Rovers defeated Forest Green Rovers 2-0.

Further down the pyramid Scott Butler played his part once again as Marine continued their promotion push against Lancaster City.

The Lilywhites ran out 2-0 winners at Giant Axe thanks to goals from former Wrexham man Bobby Grant and Sol Solomon.

Victory for the Merseyside Club saw them rise to third in the Northern Premier League table, with only runaway league leaders Radcliffe Borough and Warrington Rylands above them.

There was no game for Colwyn Bay this weekend, but Owen Cushion and Dan Davies’ side will return to action on Friday night as they continue their fight against relegation.
