Paul Mullin says he never doubted he would be back in the goals, after a hat-trick in the win at home to Accrington Stanley made it four goals in two games for the striker.
Mullin’s second treble of the season means he now sits top of Wrexham’s goalscoring charts, having scored 16 compared to Elliot Lee’s 15.
And he was full of praise for Wrexham’s first-half blitz, which saw them score all four goals before the break in the 4-0 victory against Stanley.
“I thought we were brilliant first-half, and luckily we’ve put the game out of reach,” he said.
“In the second half, it was a lot more comfortable than in recent weeks. I thought it was a good day all around and obviously it was great to get so many goals, after a bit of time where we haven’t been recently.
“We made plenty of chances today, and in games beforehand we haven’t made as many. But then, even when we have created it’s just not fallen to the right places. Today, instead, it was one of those days when everything clicked.
“I didn’t have any doubts. There was nothing wrong – if you don’t get the chances in games, then you can’t score them.
“I know if I’m getting the chances, but missing them, I’ll score eventually. If I wasn’t getting any, that would be the time to worry. Today, we’ve created a lot of chances and to be honest I probably should have scored more than three.”
Mullin and Wrexham now face one of his former teams, Morecambe, next weekend – the Club Mullin hit his other hat-trick against this season.
And looking ahead, Mullin added: “Every game is massive. It’s going to be a grind to the very end, but it’s nice to have had a comfortable afternoon in the end; now all the focus is going to be on Morecambe next weekend.”
