CONTRACT NEWS | Scott Butler to leave Wrexham AFC

Young defender’s time at STōK Cae Ras ends

13 May 2024

Wrexham AFC can confirm young defender Scott Butler will leave the Club at the end of the season following the expiry of his contract.

As communicated when the retained/released list was announced earlier this month, the decision on Butler’s future was deferred until the end of his successful loan spell with Marine.

Butler and Marine finished the loan spell by sealing promotion to the National League North last weekend.

Butler, 21, started his youth career at Wrexham before leaving for Swansea City, returning during the 2022/23 season. He made his senior Wrexham debut in the FA Trophy in January 2023, and also represented Wrexham Red Dragons at TST last summer.

He started the 2023/24 season out on loan with Nantwich Town, before moving to Marine in January – where as well as winning promotion, he also helped them to Liverpool Senior Cup success.

Everybody at Wrexham AFC would like place on record our thanks to Scott for his efforts while at the Football Club, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
