TST 2024 | Wrexham Red Dragons Women’s Squad Confirmed

Adran Premier stars joined by international guest stars for tournament debut

2 May 2024

The Wrexham Red Dragons’ Women’s squad for TST 2024 has been confirmed, with seven of Wrexham’s Adran Premier stars to be joined by an international cast of guests.

Thanks to the backing of Ally Financial, Wrexham Red Dragons Women will be one of the eight teams in the new eight-team women’s tournament, while the men’s team also return to North Carolina in the expanded 48-team men’s bracket.

TST 2024 takes place at Wakemed Soccer Park from June 5-10.

Seven of the players who have helped fire Wrexham AFC Women to third place in the Welsh top flight this season – as well as booking a place in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup Final – will travel to North Carolina, alongside manager Steve Dale.

And they will help form a formidable Wrexham Red Dragons’ outfit at the $1 million winner-takes-all 7-a-side tournament, alongside a selection of guest stars boasting international experience from across North America.

The team includes Wrexham AFC Women top goalscorer Rosie Hughes. The striker will head to the tournament having led Wrexham’s scoring charts again this season. She has 18 in 2023/24 and has now hit more than 100 across her three seasons with the Club in total.

Former Wales youth international Lili Jones – an ever-present this season, including scoring a brilliant long-range goal at the STōK Cae Ras against Swansea City – will also be part of the Wrexham Red Dragons squad.

Goalkeeper Del Morgan is also in the squad with first-team captain Keren Allen and full-back Phoebe Davies in front of her in defence.

Tireless winger Carra Jones, who has hit 12 goals in 26 matches this season, including scoring at both the Swansea.com Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium against the league’s top two teams is also included.

And the septet from the current Wrexham AFC Women squad making the trip is completed by striker Ava Suckley, who has hit nine goals this season to add to the ten she scored in 2022/23.

Former England international Carly Telford, a decorated veteran with over 20 years of professional experience, had three spells with Chelsea as a player and spent time at San Diego Wave later in her career, joins Morgan in the goalkeeping department.

Adding TST experience to the squad is American midfielder Nicole Baxter, who played against Wrexham for the US Women in last year’s inaugural tournament. Midfielder Baxter previously played for Gotham FC in the NWSL.

Former Orlando Pride midfielder Bridget Callahan will also guest with Wrexham Red Dragons, and a trio of American players in the squad is completed by Danica Evans. Formerly of Orlando Pride, North Carolina Courage, and Sporting Huelva in Spain, the forward represented the USA at Under-17 and Under-23 level.

Also bolstering the midfield, meanwhile, is Puerto Rico captain Nickolette Driesse, who counts Orlando Pride, Sky Blue FC and Croatia’s ZNK Split among her former teams, and also represented the US at the Under-20 World Cup in 2014.

Canadian international forward Lindsay Agnew, who has played in the NWSL, with KIF Örebro in Sweden and also in Australia with Sydney FC, is included up front. Agnew was part of the Canada squad at the 2019 World Cup, Under-20 World Cup in 2014 and Under-17 World Cup in 2012.

Continuing the theme of North American internationals in the Wrexham Red Dragons squad is former Gotham FC defender Sabrina Flores, who also played in Spain with Sevilla and has represented the United States at various levels, including the U20 World Cup in 2016.

Dominican Republic international Brianne Reed completes the squad. The New Jersey native centre-back has also played for FC Kansas City in the USA, then continued on to Sweden, Denmark and Australia and currently plays for Damaiense in Portugal.
