Departing Andy Davies asked us to share the following message with Wrexham AFC supporters and staff.
To Everyone involved with Wrexham AFC,
25 years ago I was lucky to start my journey with Wrexham Football Club, and what a journey it has been, from being proud to pull on the shirt and play for my hometown club at the age of 14 to managing the first team for the last 8 games of the season.
Wrexham is home but the opportunity to further myself professionally and to work alongside Dean again is one I couldn’t refuse and a challenge I am looking forward to.
There are so many people to thank. Thank you to the staff, the board, the players, the fans. Thank you to the Youth Department, the parents, the players, the coaches and staff. It has been an honour to work with you all in my many different roles at the club.
I have been fortunate to work alongside many managers and coaches at the Club and have learnt a lot from all of them but one of my biggest thanks is to Joey Jones. Joey has helped me develop professionally, always supported me and I am privileged to call him a friend, for this I will always be grateful.
As a team over the last 18 months we’ve experienced highs and lows. We were thrilled to be top of the league in November and always had our sight set on the play offs and ultimately promotion.
As we all know that wasn’t meant to be this time, and as many people have said hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we took on the task and nobody is more disappointed than me that we didn’t deliver.
But progress has been made in stabilising and developing the foundations of the club and with continued hard work both on and off the pitch I am confident Wrexham AFC will achieve their ultimate goal and achieve promotion in the near future.
I would like to wish Sam and everyone connected with the club every success in the future.
