Wrexham AFC announced earlier this afternoon the retained list for the 2018/19 National League campaign, with four of our out of contract players signing new deals.
Christian Dibble, Mark Carrington, Paul Rutherford and Chris Holroyd have all extended their stay at the Racecourse Ground after being handed a deal by new manager Sam Ricketts.
24-year old custodian Christian Dibble has penned a two-year deal keeping him at the Cae Ras until 2020, and will be looking to push on following his maiden campaign in North Wales. He made 5 league appearances for Wrexham during the 2017/18 as back up to Chris Dunn. He made his debut against Maidstone United in August 2017 after Dunn pulled up in the warm up and Dibble was handed a chance to impress. After saving three penalties in his five games he picked up an injury which saw him drop out the side. He now looks to kick on between the sticks.
Versatile midfielder Mark Carrington has put pen to paper on a one-year extension, meaning he heads into his sixth season with Wrexham. 'Carra' has just under 200 appearances for the Dragons and will be looking to surpass that figure in 2019 as our longest serving player. The Warrington-born Red joined in 2013 and has played across the defence and midfield and has proved to be flexible for the four managers he's played under so far.
Winger Paul Rutherford has also signed a new one-year deal with Wrexham having had a season of personal success. The wide midfielder grabbed 15 assists for the Dragons last term and won the award for the most improved player at the Player of the Season awards this month. Having joined in 2016 he made an instant impact scoring a 96th minute winner at Guiseley in his second game for Wrexham and has gone on to improve in his two years with the Reds. The 30-year old Liverpudlian will be looking to continue to perform well as a creative outlet down thr right during the 2018/19 campaign.
Dragons forward Chris Holroyd has been awarded a new one-year deal at the Cae Ras, having finished as the clubs top scorer in the National League last season with 13 to his name. The former Macclesfield striker joined 12-months ago making 34 appearances throughout the previous campaign and now enters his second year in North Wales.
