Wrexham AFC announced the retained list last week ahead of next seasons National League campaign, with two of our out of contract players accepting new deals already.
As indicated on the retained list, first to accept the offer of a new deal was winger Paul Rutherford. Wrexham AFC can confirm that Paul, who joined the club in 2016 has signed a one-year contract.
Rutherford made 48 appearances for the club during the 2018-19 season and scored the winning goal against Solihull Moors over the Christmas period.
Also accepting a new one-year deal with Wrexham AFC is 19-year-old centre-half Doug Tharme. The youngster who signed his first professional deal at the Racecourse last summer came up through the youth ranks at the club.
The highly rated teenager featured for the Dragons five times last season and is looking to build upon that experience during the 2019-20 campaign.
Upon committing his immediate future to the club, Doug has departed the UK to volunteer at a local school in Sierra Leone for the next week, and we wish him well during his time out there.
Manager Bryan Hughes has also offered deals to Rob Lainton, James Jennings, Mark Carrington, Luke Summerfield and Kieran Kennedy. Talks are on-going with these players.
