With the aforementioned squad overhaul complete Wrexham did a little better in the 2010-11 trophy campaign, however league results had become a more pressing priority for the manager.

Saunders was still in charge and made changes for FA trophy games this season looking to concentrate on promotion, which almost paid off as the Dragons did reach the play-offs.

2011-2012 (First Round)

Saunders left Wrexham for Doncaster Rovers ten games in to the 11-12 season and Andy Morrell took over as player/manager in time for the FA Trophy first-round.

The new manager had his eyes set on another play-off campaign, which he did achieve, making nine changes for the FA Trophy loss against Hinckley.

Watford striker Andre Gray was on the score-sheet for United that day - he would go on to sign for play-off rivals Luton Town before making his way to the Premier League club.

First Round: Wrexham 1-2 Hinckley United
Venue/Date: The Racecourse Ground | Sat. 10 Dec 2011
Wrexham Goal: Glenn Little
