Wrexham leapfrogged Salford City into second place in the National League after a 5-1 win at the Racecourse.

Three first-half goals from Shaun Pearson, Akil Wright and Brad Walker set the tone for the match for Wrexham.

Substitutes Ben Tollitt and Chris Holroyd added their fourth and fifth respectively, between which Thomas Walker was sent off for Salford.

Daniel Whitehead scored a deflected consolation for the visitors late on as they dropped below Wrexham into third.

Wrexham moved within three points behind league leaders Leyton Orient and they have a game in hand.
