Last Sunday, the Cambrian Heritage Railways held a Football Special at their headquarters in Oswestry and manager Sam Ricketts went along to support the day, helping to raise funds for Hope House Hospice into the bargain.
Dave Owen from the railway, and a Wrexham supporter, said: “It was great that Sam joined us to officially open the event.
“He spent plenty time chatting to supporters of all the clubs present.
“The raffle raised a good sum for Hope House and the Sticker Swapshop was busy for most of the day too.”
The Shropshire Reds organised the Sticker Swapshop, which was kindly sponsored by Stans Superstores of St. Martin's and Llangollen.
A number of local clubs supported the day with Wrexham AFC being joined by AFC Telford United, FC Oswestry Town, Shrewsbury Town and The New Saints.
The steam trains were operating, along with a Sir Stanley Matthews exhibition and a real ale bar!
There was even a fly passed from the Red Arrows during the afternoon.
