The scheduled pitch inspection at Ebbsfleet United was brought foward, with conditions only worsening at the Kuflink Stadium, and the result was obvious - match OFF!
No new date yet, we will let supporters know once it is confirmed.
This morning, due to the exceptional circumstances, The National League circulated all member clubs that they had given permission for early inspections. and in cases where the pitch is already clearly frozen, match officials need not make an unnecessary trip to the ground.
A local referee did actually call at Stonebridge Road today, but his pitch inspection was a very short one.
As would be obvious to anyone living locally to the Ebbsfleet ground, the deteriorating weather conditions meant there was zero chance of the pitch being playable by Saturday and, as such, Ebbsfleet United, in consultation with the National League and Wrexham, decided to postpone the match now.
Indeed, their club offices at the ground have been closed and will remain so tomorrow, to avoid their staff having to make potentially hazardous trips on the local roads.
Just down the A2 at Gillingham, their EFL home match with Rotherham United has also been postponed, while other fixtures around the National League are also falling, including those at Chester, Tranmere Rovers, Maidenhead United, Guiseley and Kidderminster Harriers.
