Wrexham’s gargantuan week of travel continues in midweek as the revitalised Dragons travel to Boreham Wood.
Following a rocky patch Wrexham have made it three wins on the spin including their first victory on the road since October on Saturday. The Dragons fell behind to Havant & Waterlooville through Joe Quigley’s penalty before an outstanding first 15 minutes of the second half blew the Hawks away. Goals from Shaun Pearson, Akil Wright and James Jennings stunned the home side into submission and although Alfie Rutherford pulled one back it was Wrexham who travelled back to North Wales with maximum points.
As for Boreham Wood, they’ll be looking to bounce back after a horrendous 4-0 home loss to Hartlepool United on the weekend. The Pools brushed the Wood aside with relative ease to keep Tuesday’s opponents in the bottom half. It leaves Luke Garrard’s side without a win in 2019 having failed to register a victory since Boxing Day.
Wrexham midfielder Akil Wright will be full of confidence having grabbed a vital goal at Westleigh Park on Saturday. The former Fleetwood middle man put in an impressive display and has been getting himself into the right places consistently in recent weeks. Full-back James Jennings has also been praised for his performances recently with his creativity down the left flank particularly impressing.
As for Boreham Wood, top scorer Justin Shaibu has six goals this term and will be looking to find the net on a more consistent basis for the Wood. The ex-Walsall trainee last scored against Dagenham & Redbridge in a sensational 4-4 draw and now the 21-year old will look to step up further for his side.
We last met earlier this season at the Racecourse Ground in front of the BT Sport cameras. Goals from Jordan Maguire-Drew, Rekeil Pyke and Mike Fondop sealed an impressive victory for the Dragons on a baking hot August afternoon. Our last trip to Meadow Park saw Alex Reid get the only goal in a 1-0 win for the reds.
Luke Summerfield (calf) and Kevin Roberts (Calf) will face fitness tests on Tuesday whilst Manny Smith (knee) remains side-lined. Stuart Beavon (Cold/Flu) and Bobby Grant (Cold/Flu) are both likely to return for this match.
