After a long trip to south London to face Sutton United on Saturday the reds are back on the road, this time to Yorkshire for a top three clash with Harrogate Town.
Wrexham come into the game on the back of a miserable 3-0 defeat to Sutton United at Gander Green Lane. Sutton took the lead from the penalty spot on 15 minutes when Jamie Collins slotted the ball out of the reach of Rob Lainton before Kieran Cudogan doubled that advantage from close range. Just moments before half-time Luke Summerfield was handed a straight red card, leaving Wrexham down to ten going in to the break. In the first five minutes of the second half Craig Eastmond made it three and sealed the points for the home side. It came seven days after the Dragons demolished Ebbsfleet United 4-1 at the Racecourse with Chris Holroyd, Stuart Beavon, Rekeil Pyke and Shaun Pearson all getting on the scoresheet in the first half.
As for Harrogate, after a brilliant start to their first season at National League level having won promotion last season via the play-offs, they fell to their first defeat of the season on Saturday, a 3-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient to conceede top spot to the visitors. The only two undefeated teams left in the National League, Orient hit home early through Macauley Bonne before a double either side of the break from Job McAnuff. Previously Town had four wins on the bounce over Maidstone United, Havant & Waterlooville, Gateshead and Eastleigh.
Wrexham centre-half Jake Lawlor has had a run in the team as of recently and is continuing his progression having signed at the end of August. Lawlor has been building his partnership with partner Shaun Pearson and will want to be a part of what has been a solid defensive unit at the Racecourse over the last 12-months or so.
For Harrogate, former Wrexham striker Mark Beck has got himself among the goals since landing at Wetherby Road. He netted seven goals in his 20 or so appearances for Harrogate. He's scored twice so far this season, a double against Eastleigh and will be looking to make it a more regular occurance. He faced Wrexham last term at the Cae Ras scoring to help know out the Dragons in the FA Trophy.
We've met Harrogate on just one occasion coming in December 2017 in the FA Trophy. Harrogate came to North Wales and met a young Wrexham side, with Beck grabbing a brace to knock Wrexham out of the competition.
Wrexham defender Manny Smith remains sidelined through injury whilst midfielder Luke Summerfield will miss out after picking up a straight red card at Sutton.
