This weekend will wrap up our pre-season friendlies for the summer as we welcome Crewe Alexandra to North Wales.
Wrexham come into this weekend's fixture on the back of two wins in the last three having overcome National League North side Curzon Ashton. Five youth graduates started the game at the Tameside Stadium against more than capable opposition. It took until the second half for the scoring to be opened, with Leighton McIntosh tucking away a penalty before Jason Oswell made it 2-0. We took on Stoke City at the Racecourse beforehand where Bobby Grant netted in a 3-1 loss.
Crewe come into this on the back of inflicting two thumpings to Whitchurch Alport and Bala Town respectively. They faced Alport on Tuesday helping themselves to an 8-0 victory at Yockings Park. On the same evening, another Alex side went to Bala where they ran out 2-5 victors in Gwynedd.
With this the final game of pre-season all of Bryan Hughes' side will be striving to put in a good performance to give themselves the best opportunity for a place in the starting XI. New signings Michael Chambers and Dawid Szczepaniak could feature for the first time since signing for the club.
Crewe will have the same objective as Wrexham and there are plenty of players to look out for. 23-year-old James Jones has over 150 appearances for the Alex. Jones hit a memorable 40-yards strike on Tuesday against Whitchurch and the young midfielder will be hoping to push on further this campaign.
A fixture which dates back to 1886, we've met on a number of occasions over the last 113 years. Our last meeting came in the Football League in August 2003 in the League Cup with the Alex running out 2-0 winners at Gresty Road. The last time Crewe came to Wrexham was all the way back in April 1997, the game ended 1-1.
Goalkeeper Rob Lainton remains sidelined whilst Paul Rutherford is a doubt for the weekend.
