The post-Bryan Hughes era begins this weekend with interim boss Brian Flynn taking charge for this weekend's match-up with Ebbsfleet United.
Wrexham are without a win in their last seven games, form which has called for change according to the club hierarchy. It's seen Bryan Hughes now move on from his position with assistant boss Brian Flynn stepping up his commitment to take over the next two games as interim manager. Wrexham were last in action on Tuesday as we battled it out with AFC Fylde. Jake Lawlor gave the Dragons the lead upon his return before a goalkeeping error led to a Coasters leveller. On the stroke of half-time Jason Oswell restored the Dragons lead. However, in the second half Fylde turned the game on it's head to see the game out 3-2.
Ebbsfleet won their second game of the season on Tuesday night with an emphatic 3-0 win over Barnet at Stonebridge Road. Goals from Myles Weston, Alex Reid and Ayo Obileye saw off the Bees for a win that lifted the Fleet off the bottom of the National League table.
A change in personnel will give all players in the Wrexham squad a clean slate and they'll be vying for places ahead of a management change. Players who've not been as involved as others will see this as a big opportunity and now a fresh change could be seen as a new start for a number of players.
Ebbsfleet's Alex Reid has scored three goals in six games since joining his side on loan from Stevenage at the end of August. The former Wrexham forward who scored three in eighteen games during the 2017/18 season has been off to a flyer and will look to continue his goal-scoring habit at the Racecourse against his old club.
Our last meeting came in March where goals from Shaun Pearson and Stuart Beavon weren't enough in a 4-2 loss. Our last Racecourse meeting finished with an emphatic 4-1 Wrexham win with Chris Holroyd, Beavon, Rekeil Pyke and Pearson all scoring in the first half. Danny Kedwell pulled one back but it wouldn't be enough for the Fleet.
Both Rob Lainton and JJ Hooper have continued stepping up their progression having been out with injuries whilst Manny Smith remains out of action.
