Wrexham got themselves back to winning ways on the weekend as they head into a top of the table clash with FC Halifax Town.
Wrexham come into the game on the back of a terrific 2-0 victory over Aldershot Town at the Cae Ras. Goals from Stuart Beavon and Jordan Maguire-Drew netted to send Wrexham back to the top of the National League table. It followed on from a Bank Holiday weekend where we tasted our first defeat away to Solihull Moors and drew with Bromley late on.
As for the Shaymen, last time out they faced Sutton United at Gander Green lane where Dayle Southwell’s 62nd strike levelled the score which ended 1-1. On Bank Holiday Monday they played host to Gateshead with Jordan Preston grabbed the only goal that afternoon to seal maximum points for Halifax.
Wrexham forward Stuart Beavon has put in some very reliable performances in red having signed in the summer. On loan from Coventry City the 34-year old was only missing a goal, which he eventually provided on Saturday with a superb header to get Wrexham off the mark.
For Halifax midfielder Matty Kosylo proved to be a handful last season with his pace and precision, whilst he manages games superbly both on and off the ball. Having worked his way up the non-league pyramid Kosylo he can handle himself against tough defenders and can certainly be a handful.
We’ve met on a number of occasions over the years with the latest instalment coming in February 2018. Scott Boden opened the scoring on 19 minutes in North Wales but Scott McMannus equalised for the Shay and it ended at that. Our last trio to Halifax saw the game end goalless.
Wrexham defender Manny Smith will miss out through injury whilst James Jennings may be fit enough to return. Subject to clearance, there are potential debuts for Jake Lawlor and Brad Walker.
