Wrexham are looking to continue to spread the Festive cheer as we welcome promotion rivals Solihull Moors to the Racecourse Ground this weekend.
Wrexham come into the game on the back of handing a 5-1 tonking to title rivals Salford City in North Wales on Boxing Day. Over 8,200 supporters came out and were treated to a five star performence from Graham Barrow's side. Shaun Pearson headed home the opener in the second minute before Akil Wright netted his first league goal for the Dragons on 24. The half was rounded off by a thunderous strike from Brad Walker in first half stoppage time. In the second half substututes Ben Tollitt - making his Dragons debut - and Chris Holroyd hit the fourth and fifth late on whilst the Ammies had Tom Walker sent off and Adam Rooney grab a consolation. It was the best way of putting a 0-0 draw to Aldershot behind them as Wrexham took over second in the table.
As for Solihull, they're in some fine form with a 4-0 win over Chesterfield earlier this week. A double from Nathan Blissett, Alex Gudger and Jermaine Hylton sealed the victory at the Proact. Moors have just one defeat in their last ten matches in the National League and were narrowly knocked out in a replay against Blackpool in the Emirates FA Cup. Before they faced Chesterfield their opposition were Barrow with the Bluebirds taking three points in a 1-0 win at Damson Park.
Wrexham midfielder Akil Wright will be full of confidence having grabbed his first National League goal for the Dragons and will be looking forward to facing Solihull. The 22-year old put in a fantastic display against Salford on Boxing Day and now wants to continue the fine form he's found himself in across the pitch this season. Meanwhile Ben Tollitt got himself off to a flyer with a sensational goal off the bench on his debut, scoring an incredible goal in the 5-1 win.
As for Solihull, on loan striker Nathan Blissett netted twice on his Moors debut on Boxing Day and will be looking to start as he means to go on. The man on loan from Macclesfield won the National League title with the Silkmen last term and will now be taking his experience to Damson Park during his loan spell.
This is the second time we've met this season with the intial clash coming in the Midlands. Gudger's late effort was enough to hand Solihull three points that day handing Wrexham our first defeat of the season. The last time we faced off at the Racecourse saw Paul Rutherford's cheeky chip seal maximum points that evening and send the Dragons to the top of the table.
Wrexham right-back Kevin Roberts is nearing full fitness whilst Manny Smith has returned from injury. Doug Tharme and Rekeil Pyke remain sidelined.
