In their first game of 2019, Wrexham AFC Women provided a spirited performance against Northop Hall Ladies coming from two behind to equalise however a late goal for Northop Hall was the difference maker today.
Wrexham started the brighter putting Northop Hall under pressure from the off however it was Northop Hall who got the first attempt on goal with a free kick being tipped onto the bar by Alex Jones in the Wrexham goal.
The blustry conditions provided difficult to cope with for the Wrexham backline and Northop Hall made them pay for it with a sliced clearance being converted by a Trialist for Northop Hall.
Ten minutes later, Northop Hall doubled their lead with a goal kick being held up by the wind and falling to the Northop Hall trialist who smashed the ball home from close range.
Two minutes from the break, Savannah Palin halved the defecit with a great effort into the roof of the net from close range after an excellently weighted pass from Lauren Reese.

Ten minutes into the second half, Lauren Reese brought the game level with a fantastic strike from distance into the top corner.
On the hour mark however, Northop Hall punished Wrexham for not clearing their lines as the defender is dispossessed by the Trialist and she tucked it away with aplomb over the onrushing Alex Jones in goal.
Eight minutes later, Kate from the Under 16s academy side hit the bar from long range with a great effort which had the keeper beaten.
Wrexham could not get back into the game as the pace slowed and Northop Hall made their numbers advantage count as Wrexham only had the one substititute to Northop Hall's ten which was used to their full advantage.
