Wrexham ran out 2-1 winners at a sun-kissed Stansty Park as goals from Chris Holroyd and trailist Michael Elstone saw off stiff local opposition.
Hundreds of Wrexham supporters came out to witness Sam Ricketts' first match in charge of the Dragons to round-off the first week of pre-season training.
Beginning the first-half with Wrexham's senior players it took 11 minutes for the deadlock to be broken as a short corner eventually saw a cross from Nicky Deverdics met by the header of Shaun Pearson, the goal-bound effort was flicked on by Holroyd to give the reds the lead.
Lex fought valiantly throughout the half and were rewarded late on with a stunning effort sailing past goalkeeper Christian Dibble to level the score. The ball dropped to the home side outside the box and the stunning volley hit the top left corner.
In the second half a young Wrexham side switched with the senior to take the field in what would be for some the first chance to play in front of a large Dragons crowd.
Opportunities fell to both sides throughout and Lex could have had the lead on a couple of occasions if it weren't for the smart saves from Youth Team keeper Ben Tinkley.
Just a goal separated the two sides as Michael Elstone was played through by Jack Mackreth (also on trail) and although his initial shot was saved he rebounded inside the box to take the lead.
At 2-1 Lex searched for a leveller but couldn't seem to find the back of the net with a few close shaves, and at the end of a good runout it was the visiting reds who took the victory.
