Wrexham AFC Women got back to winning ways in spectacular fashion with a 18-0 demolition job against Penrhyn Bay Ladies at Afoneitha Road today.
Wrexham attacked right from the off with several chances coming early on and Wrexham broke the deadlock in the 8th minute with Lauren Reese being played through one on one and she tucked it away with ease.
However Penrhyn Bay came straight back at Wrexham with Kelsey Morris hitting the post and testing Alex Jones in goal, who is replacing the injured Kat Jones.
Penrhyn Bay were awarded a fortunate penalty after Alex Jones won the ball at the feet of the attacker but the referee adjudged it to be a foul.
Alex Jones made up for the decision and tipped the penalty over the bar to keep Wrexham in the lead.
Wrexham continued to play well and doubled their lead just after the 20 minute mark as Kim Dutton spotted the keeper not in the right position and fired an effort to her far post to net her first of the day.
After the half hour mark, Wrexham turned on the style with 3 goals in 9 minutes before the end of the half.
Savannah Palin netting from close range and then her second goal came from an excellent piece of skill to beat her marker and tuck it away into top corner.
Jodie Richards not to be outdone netted the last one of the half after a great ball into the box and she did well to tuck it away.
HALF TIME: Wrexham AFC Women 5-0 Penrhyn Bay Women
The second half did not start well for Penrhyn Bay as Wrexham managed to score another 5 goals in the opening 10 minutes.
Savannah Palin firstly getting her third of the afternoon, with an excellent shot across the keeper that nestled into the far corner.
Two minutes later, Kim Dutton got her second of the afternoon as she hit an excellent free kick over the wall and past the keeper to make it seven.
Just a minute later, Palin got her fourth of the afternoon after receiving the ball just to the right of the penalty spot and she lashed it in from close range. A couple of minutes after that Morgan Churchill jinked into the box and wrong footed the goal keeper to get her first of the afternoon.
Jodie Richards completely the opening salvo making it double figures for Wrexham after following in a spilled save from the keeper.
A minute after the hour mark, Megan Buckley went on a marauding run forward from the centre back position and played in Reese who’s shot comes back off the post to Buckley and she fires it low and hard to make it eleven for the Dragons.
Controversy followed in the resulting couple of minutes after Charlotte Miliziav received a red card for disagreeing with the referee’s decision which resulted in a delay after the Penrhyn Bay manager pulled his team in to talk to them and also make his feelings known to the referee.
During this Kim Dutton had to be taken off with injury bringing it 10 v 10 for the remainder of the match.
Wrexham again did not let up as they hit another 4 goals in 5 minutes, with Lauren Reese hitting an effort towards goal and it deflected off a defender and in.
Richards got her third and fourth inside two minutes, firstly with a half volley after being unmarked at the back post from a free kick and slotting under the keeper as she rushed to stop a low cross.
Lily Clifton-Stringer finished off this salvo as she finished with aplomb in the box after an excellent move by Wrexham.
Alex Jones in goal was always alert after a couple of one on ones were stopped well by the Woman in-between the sticks today.
After a lengthy amount of stoppage time was indicated, Wrexham increased the scoreline by another three in injury time.
Substitute Phoebe Rintoul hit an effort from distance, which caught the keeper off her line to get her first of the afternoon.
Lauren Reese got her third and fourth in the final few minutes, after a long-range effort beat visitor's defence and then her next effort was spilled into her own net by the luckless Penrhyn keeper.

An absolute rout from the women in Red today, with a very clinical performance to put them in good stead ahead of the visit of Mountain Rangers next Sunday at Afoneitha Road.
