Report by Tom Crofts:
Wrexham AFC Women fell to defeat in their penultimate league fixture against an inspired Corwen FC side looking to get into the top positions in the table.
A goal in either half for Corwen sealed all three points for the visitors.
Wrexham started the brighter of the two teams with Churchill heading wide in the opening five minutes after an excellent cross by Palin.
The opening 15 minutes was dominated by the hosts as they chased a win which would secure 2nd place in the league.
However, the visitors were the first to strike as Wrexham were temporarily down to 10 players, a corner found Llywela Edwards and she fired home to put the visitors ahead.
Wrexham struggled for the rest of the half to get any momentum going and Kat Jones in the Wrexham goal kept Corwen at bay with Seren Williams one on one with the keeper, managing to put her effort over the bar under pressure from the keeper.
HALF TIME – Wrexham AFC Women 0-1 Corwen FC Ladies
The second half much like the first was dominated by the visitors with the keeper Kat Jones very busy in-between the sticks.
Just as Wrexham managed to get a strong attack going with Reese down the right wing, Corwen counter attacked and Thalia Christian-McGrail pounced on a loose ball in the box to double the visitors lead.
Chances were spare in the latter exchanges with Churchill going closest five minutes from time.
