On Wednesday evening we announced that SWEET are coming back to Wrexham for a special 50th Anniversary gig and are donating all ticket profits from the show to hometown football club Wrexham AFC.
Tickets have been selling at a rapid pace - so make sure you grab yours quickly to get the best seats!
Sweet need little introduction, they are a national treasure! Their smash hit 'Ballroom Blitz' featured on the promotional material for the 2016 movie 'Suicide Squad' and on the map for popular consol game 'Battlefield 1'.
They had massive hits in the 70's including Fox On The Run, Blockbuster, Hell Raiser, Little Willy, Wig-Wam Bam and Ballroom Blitz.
Sweet's support are Kidsmoke. The Wrexham band have gone from strength to strength after reaching the final of the Green Man Rising competition in 2015; after which they have played the festival twice and also supported the likes of Paul Smith from Maximo Park, Glass Animals, Satellite Stories and Widowspeak.
Their 3rd EP ‘Save Your Sorrow’ was released in June 2017 after having been awarded the Horizons Launchpad Fund from BBC Cymru Wales/Arts Council Wales.
The EP was recorded with Russ Hayes of Orange Sound Studios, Penmaenmawr with artwork from local Welsh artists Mike Payne and Andy Garside.
Singles from the EP made it onto official Spotify playlists as well as airwaves nationwide, including BBC Radio 6 Music, Amazing Radio, Radio X and a live session on BBC Radio Wales with Janice Long.
The band’s song ‘Take me to the River’ is featured on season 4 of the Charlie Brooker’s ‘Black Mirror’, in an episode titled ‘Arkangel’, directed by Jodie Foster.
