Wrexham AFC will also be supporting International Women’s day at the game against Chesterfield taking place on March 2nd 2019.
International Women’s day is held annually on 8th March and this years theme is 'the future is exciting. Let's build a gender-balanced world’.
At Wrexham AFC we are proud to promote inclusivity and it is great to see our games watched by an ever increasing number of female supporters.
To mark the occasion the teams will be led by our junior girls players, there will be a special article in the programme about Wrexham AFC Ladies team and Poet and spoken word artist Evrah Rose will be reading some of her poetry including a bespoke piece which has been written especially for the day about Wrexham AFC.
Evrah is an injustice driven poet and spoken word performer hailing from Wrexham and has received much acclaim recently with her no nonsense thought provoking poetry.
Wrexham AFC are delighted Evrah, who regularly attended games growing up, will be joining us for the day and we are looking forward to hearing some of her excellent work. Here: www.evrahrosepoetry.co.uk
Our Remembered Friends And Family Also Taking Place
A Minutes Silence will also take place. At the heart of our community, Wrexham Association Football Club represents so much to so many people, of all ages, with a significant footballing and social history, spanning over 154 years.
However, it is those who have followed the Club through all those years that truly have made it the iconic symbol of all our hopes and dreams.
The Racecourse has become the gathering place of the diverse communities of not just Wrexham town itself, but much of Wales and the Marches and beyond, becoming one community, one extended family of shared memories, experiences and ambitions.
As with any family, the passage of time takes it toll, we lose those loved ones who have, and continue, to mean so much to us.
Every year, Wrexham AFC intends to dedicate one special match when we can all join together in respecting the memories of those loved ones who have passed away over the last year and share in celebrating their lives.
This season, the Vanarama National League home match against Chesterfield will be dedicated to our now absent, but never forgotten, friends.
There will be a minute’s commemorative silence at the beginning of the match, and the names of those departed will be displayed on the electronic scoreboard and also in a special commemorative section of the match day programme.
If you wish for your loved one or friend to be included, could you please send their name and details to [email protected] before Friday, February 22nd, 2019.
If you want to include a short anecdote about them which details the important connection the deceased had with the Club or a photograph, please do so.
However, depending on how many and how much content we receive we may not be able to add it all to the programme but we will do our best.
Our memories will always ensure their place as a member of the Wrexham AFC family.
