"We've got to find a killer instinct and we've got to find it quick" was the message our club captian Shaun Pearson had after the disappointing 1-1 draw against Eastleigh where Wrexham led for most of the match.
Sometimes the only place to seek some comfort and perspective during a lull in results is when the skipper speaks.
"We should finish the game off. It's happened too many times where we need to have more about us in terms of playing against ten, we have to control the game and we don't. We have to be better in that respect, it's as simple as that." said a disappointed captian.
There is now a chance to bridge the gap on Tuesday evening at Ebbsfleet in this rearranged fixture that was snowed off in January where the Dragons could do with a big three points.
A couple of wins put together would soon show the league table in a different light and the skipper agrees: "We have to go again at Ebbsfleet on Tuesday night and we can go there and get a result, there is no doubt about that.
"If we get that win at Ebbsfleet everything will look a lot brighter."
Shaun was keen to make sure everyone sticks together after a defeat and a draw: "We have to dust ourselves down and get over Eastleigh and Boreham Wood now. We need to be ready for Tuesday night and go there and win.
"I've said it all along. We have got to stick together. We have to keep believing and pushing on."
Talking ahead of the trip to Ebbsfleet he said: "These are massive games during the run-in and both teams had tough games on Saturday. I hope we can go down there and put on a better performance and if we do get ourselves in front we have to go and kill the game off.
"If we get a result at Ebbsfleet and again against Dagenham on Saturday suddenly no doubt everything will look completely different. It's up to us players to handle the pressure and come out fighting on Tuesday."
