Following a string of pre-season friendlies that have taken us from a few yards away from the Racecourse at Lex to Altrincham via Portugal, we’ve finally reached our last warm up of the summer before the big one next weekend, as we meet Chorley at Victory Park on Saturday (Kick-Off 3pm).

Wrexham come into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over an impressive Altrincham. Goals from Marcus Kelly and Chris Holroyd in a good showing from the Dragons was the perfect response to a loss at Nantwich three days previous, our only loss of the summer.

Chorley, meanwhile, have had a good pre-season playing a host of big names at Victory Park. Their last runout came against League One side Blackpool, as The Magpies went down 3-0 to the Tangerines, but showed class throughout. Beforehand they managed to beat a young Fleetwood Town side 2-1 courtesy of a Jason Walker double.

For Wrexham, every squad member will be looking to step it up one last time this summer and get their name on the team sheet. Manager Dean Keates has ensured competition across the pitch and every player will be fighting for their place in order to get the nod against Macclesfield Town at My Racecourse on August 5th.

Chorley have a wealth of experience in the side, no more so than in the attack with the aforementioned Walker. as well as Terry Gornell. Walker bagged a brace against Fleetwood last week and is a proven goal scorer throughout his career. Gornell has played regularly in the Football League with the likes of Accrington Stanley, Shrewsbury Town and Cheltenham Town.

In recent years Wrexham and Chorley have not met in any competitive capacity.

Wrexham will possibly be without striker Ntumba Massanka and midfielder Jack Mackreth, while skipper Shaun Pearson recovers from a knock on Tuesday evening.
