Following our opening two games of the summer, Wrexham now make the trip over to Portugal for an exciting clash against Louletano DC.
Free Entry. Estadio Municipal de Loule.
The Dragons have taken part in two games so far this pre-season and maintained a 100% win record. We began with our short hop over to Stansty Park to face Lex, running out 3-1 winners. Goals from Paul Rutherford, Niall Freeman and Leo Smith sealed the victory with a good number of supporters out to see Dean Keates’ new side. Our last friendly came against Cefn Druids at the Rock. Another large crowd gathered as Wrexham overcame the Ancients in another 3-1 victory, goals coming from Trialist B, James Jennings and Ben Barrett.
As for Louletano, they currently compete in the third tier of Portuguese football, and play in the Campeanato de Portugal Group H. They finished second in the division but missed out in the promotion play-off stage..
Wrexham will have plenty of players looking to impress in the training camp in Portugal. Both goalkeeper’s Chris Dunn and Christian Dibble have a full match under their belts whilst a number of youth team players and trialists have been given the opportunity to impress Dean Keates. Striker Scott Boden has made his first pre-season appearance at Cefn Druids and will be looking to push on alongside Ntumba Massanka.
Unsurprisingly it’s the first time the two sides will face each other. Of course, Wrexham have some real history over in Portugal whilst competing in the European Cup Winners’ Cup, where we met FC Porto.
Chris Holroyd was out as a precaution on Friday but will return for this match. Missing out with minor knocks are captain Shaun Pearson and midfielder Leo Smith.
The media team will be out in Portugal to cover an exciting few days for the club. We will have live commentary FREE on Mixlr as well as highlights on our YouTube channel Wrexham AFC. You can also follow the trip on our Twitter @Wrexham_AFC
