RACECOURSE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION | Update on activities and programmes

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the Racecourse Community Foundations’s operations over the last six months but we are extremely pleased to be back delivering valuable and vital activities within our local community as we detail below.

Girl’s football taster sessions

It is fantastic for us to be back delivering these free sessions both in local primary and secondary schools in partnership with The National League Trust and Active Wrexham.

These sessions are vital to promoting girl’s football in schools and to introducing many new players to the game that would normally shy away from football for various reasons.

These sessions are also a catalyst for girls taking up the sport outside of the school environment and therefore boosting the number of girls joining grassroots clubs in the Wrexham and surrounding areas.

To find out more about these free sessions or to book them for your primary/high school, please contact Gemma Owen - [email protected]

Girl’s football fun turn up and play sessions

Since returning to Colliers Park after lockdown, these sessions have gone from strength to strength.

The newly rebranded Huddle session for girls aged 4-11yrs old is delivered in partnership with the FAW Trust and is the next step in our female football pathway for girls who have an interest in joining a fun, no pressure session outside of the school environment.

These sessions are a fantastic way for girls to begin to learn the game and take part in physical activity but also to meet new friends.

We have also introduced a brand new turn up and play session specifically for high school girls (11-16yrs old) in partnership with The National League Trust.

Again, this is a fun, no pressure environment for girls to come along and play football. This session is open to all levels of ability.

This session is vital to those girls who have enjoyed taking part in the school sessions we deliver but are not yet involved with a grassroots team or don't feel they are ready to join a team and just want to play for fun.

To book your child onto either of the sessions, please contact Gemma Owen via the information on the flyer shown.

Premier League Primary Stars

We have also returned to our delivery of the Premier League Primary Stars educational programme with Hafod Y Wern CP school starting off this academic year’s delivery.

Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.

The Racecourse Community Foundation deliver English, Maths, PSHE and PE programmes, with flexible activity ideas, worksheets, lesson plans, assemblies, and exclusive videos.

Our staff also work with teachers to mentor their PE delivery in order to improve their confidence in planning and delivering PE to their classes.

Our coaches have completed the Level 3 PESS Supporting the delivery of PE and school sport qualification, along with the Adult Mentoring qualification to support the delivery of the project.

To express an interest in the programmes for your school or to find our more information, please contact us via email - [email protected].
