Wrexham travelled to Yorkshire to face Guiseley at Nethermoor Park yesterday and not only came away with the three points on offer, they climbed to the top of the Vanarama National League in the process.

The 0-2 win came courtesy of goals from top-scorer Chris Holroyd and a typical thumping header skipper Shaun Pearson.

Manager Dean Keates spoke to the press after the convincing victory and said: "It was about being professional and that's what it was. The first 20 minutes we were outstanding. We moved it well and had a couple of great opportunities. We had one cleared off the line again and I'm thinking: not again like the other night (at Gateshead).

But we kept going and it's a great goal by Chrissy (Holroyd). In the two minutes before the second goal Shaun Pearson did what a captian should do. He headed one out of our area 40-yards. He got his team up and it was a great ball by Ruthers (Paul Rutherford) and he arrived on it."

The media team spoke to the captain who said: "It was a great ball in by Ruthers (Rutherford) his deliveries all season have been fantastic. The amount of assists he must have now are racking up.

It's a great ball and it's easy to get on the end of them if they are put in like that."
