Wrexham edged themselves closer to the top 3 of the Vanarama National League on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over a very defensive Maidstone United side at the Racecourse.

Shaun Pearson's bullet header from a Marcus Kelly free-kick was enough to see all three points remain in North Wales leaving the Reds just 5 points from new leaders Sutton United.

Manager Andy Davies gave his first post match interview after the game having been placed in charge until the end of the season on Wednesday.

He said to the waiting press: "We started the game really well, the first 15 or 20 minutes, we were on top and missed a couple of chances.

"And a little bit of credit to our boys that Maidstone have had to change their shape to stop us. It became a little bit scrappy at times but I'm delighted to get the 1-0 win."
