Wrexham boss Sam Ricketts is relishing getting to work on the pitch and will be looking to build a firm bond with supporters as the reds kick off pre-season on Friday.
The new gaffer has highlighted the value of togetherness between fans and squad and has jumped at the opportunity early on with Friday’s fixture against Lex XI.
“Lex will be really good and I’ve heard plenty about it” admitted Ricketts, speaking to the club’s official website.
“I think it’s a really good day for the players and for the fans to meet and it’s a bit of a workout for us as part of our training”.
For the fourth pre-season running Wrexham kick off the summer with the short hop over to Stansty Park to introduce new additions and those already with us to the public.
But for Ricketts it’ll be the first time he can flex his managerial muscles after his appointment at the beginning of May and having met some supporters at the successful ‘meet the manager’ event last month.
Now, after a month and a half of planning and preparation, he’s been able to get out on to the training ground to get ready for the new campaign, and Friday plays a big part in that.
“It’s the first week of training and another step another layer of what we’re trying to do this year and it’s great for the fans to be able to come down and interact with the players a little bit.
“They won’t be playing the whole game so for parts of the game they’ll be able to go around and have pictures and sign autographs and be the community club that we are”
Kick-off for this Friday’s match will be 19:00 at Stansty Park.
