Wrexham AFC are now in a position to confirm the arrangements for receiving a refund on your 2019-20 season ticket, following the National League’s decision to end the season early.
All season-ticket holders will receive an email from tomorrow, or letter where no email address has been provided, detailing the options for a refund relating to the final five home games of the season.
We would like to thank those supporters who have already been in touch, expressing that they would not like a refund, but we understand every supporter has individual circumstances – particularly in these uncertain times.
As a result, we have decided to offer two simple options for the refund due on the final five home games. Please note, as explained below – we require a decision one way or another.
Supporters can either:
- Agree to cancel the remaining five games of the season ticket and donate the cost to the UTST fundraising initiative that has been launched.
- Agree to cancel the remaining five games of the season ticket and receive a refund by cheque.
A third option – to donate the amount due to a nominated charity – was considered. However, we have discounted this as a personal donation would instead allow a registered charity to claim gift aid – enhancing the amount they receive.
If you would like to donate to a specific nominated charity, we request that you select the second option and make the donation personally. If you choose the first option, it has already been agreed that Nightingale House Hospice and Awyr Las will each receive five per cent of all money raised.
We need all season-ticket holders to make a decision either way. Not making a decision does not mean we can treat the unclaimed refund as a donation, as the club will carry liability on that amount for six years.
Furthermore, we request that all season-ticket holders inform us of their decision by Wednesday 15th July 2020 so we can plan budgets for next season. Again, no decision means we will have to factor the potential refund into any budget for the next six years, as it can legally be requested at any point in that time.
In order to speed up the process, we have outsourced the work to MI Vote, who will collate all responses on behalf of the club and manage the process. The portal can be accessed by visiting the website and entering your WREXID and a unique code from the letter/email.
The code is unique to each WREXID and can only be used once. If you have a family season ticket, you will have different codes and a different WREXID for each season card.
If one member of a family does not have an email address registered, they will receive their unique code by post, even if other family members receive emails.
We would like to encourage all season-ticket holders to vote online in order to reduce administration time for club officials. We understand this is not always possible, however, and all letters will also come with a pro forma.
Please also note, as the club’s full-time staff are still furloughed, and the club shut down, refunds will take time to process – club officials will be calculating all refunds requested and filling in the cheques. We will aim to process any refunds as soon as possible, in order of when your decision was registered.
For those supporters enquiring about season tickets for the 2020/21 season, we are currently unable to determine when these season tickets will be available.
While the National League has given a provisional start date of September for the new season, we will need to consider social-distancing guidance and the impact this will have on our capacity and seat layout.
