Wrexham AFC are delighted to confirm that Luke Summerfield has signed a new deal.
The midfielder was been under the observation of our medical team following a knee injury picked up during the play-off eliminator against Eastleigh on 2nd May 2019.
Luke has responded very well to treatment with scans revelling the injury was less serious than first thought and, he will be available to check in with the rest of the players when they return for pre-season training later on in June.
The 31-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal with Wrexham AFC.
Luke joined Wrexham last summer after leaving league two side Grimsby Town and made 34 appearances, scoring one goal with a whole host of assists for the Dragons during the 2018-19 season.
Manager Bryan Hughes commented on Luke’s new deal saying: “I’m delighted that Luke has signed his deal today. He made it clear that he wanted to stay at the club and the feeling was always mutual.
“If a player is injured during talks it’s always best to make sure both parties have a little extra time to make sure everyone is happy. Luke has been coming in with the physio since the Eastleigh game for treatment and we sent him for scans on the injured knee too.
“Luckily, it turned out the injury wasn’t that bad and he’s responded really well to the treatment. So, it’s really good to get the contract talks finished and Luke’s name next to a fresh deal here at the club.
“He can now concentrate on his recovery with the view of him being available to ease his way to match fitness during pre-season.”
