Wrexham AFC are delighted to announce the signing of striker JJ Hooper on a one-year deal.
The striker spent the second half of last season on a loan spell with National League side Bromley scoring 19 goals in 25 games having switched to Hays Lane in December 2018.
The 25-year-old caught the eye of Newcastle United while playing for Cray Wanderers, signing a two-year scholarship with the Magpies on 19th August 2011 and, the following day he scored a hat-trick against Chelsea Under 18’s.
After several loans away from St. James’ Park he joined Northampton Town during the summer of 2013 but it was with Havant & Waterlooville in 2014 where he started to hit his true form.
He scored 13 goals in 37 appearances for the Hawks earning a move to League Two with Port Vale. After a brief loan back to Northampton he joined his last club Grimsby Town in 2017.
The Mariners loaned him to fellow National League side Bromley hitting the target on a regular basis, adding to the two goals he’d scored earlier in the season for Grimsby.
Standing at 6 foot 1, the talented forward can also use his pace playing wide and has been described as having ‘excellent one-on-one technical finishing skills’.
