Wrexham AFC are pleased to confirm the signing of defender Theo Vassell on a one-year deal for the 2020-21 season.
Vassell has been a free agent since leaving Macclesfield Town and now becomes Dean Keates’ sixth new permanent signing of the summer.
Vassell, 23, is a Stoke City academy graduate and spent time with Oldham Athletic and Walsall.
He made his professional debut on loan with Chester in the 2016-17 season and has also played in the National League for Gateshead.
The versatile defender has played the last two seasons in League Two, however, first for Port Vale and then for Macclesfield.
He made 20 appearances in all competitions for Macclesfield last season, scoring two goals, but left the club in the January transfer window.
Vassell follows Jamie Reckord, Elliott Durrell, Jordan Ponticelli, Reece Hall-Johnson and Jordan Davies through the door at the Racecourse so far this summer.
And on signing for Wrexham, he said: “I’m delighted to get it over the line, finally. It’s been a long time coming and it’s been a while since I’ve played football so just to get back on the pitch is something I’m looking forward to.
“The manager knows where I want to go and I know where he wants to go, and where he wants to take the club so I want to be a part of that and to keep improving.”
