Wrexham AFC can confirm the first-team squad will return to pre-season training on Monday August 17.
The club is working to finalise the pre-season schedule, but please note all friendly matches will be played behind closed doors in accordance with the current guidelines. Spectators are not permitted to attend these matches.
As previously outlined, seven of last season’s first-team squad remain under contract for the 2020-21 season – captain Shaun Pearson, Luke Young, Jay Harris, Rob Lainton, Devonte Redmond and Dan Jarvis remain with the club, while Bobby Grant has signed a season-long loan deal with Oldham Athletic.
The club has also outlined players from last season’s squad, who we have entered contract talks with too.
Please keep an eye on official club channels, where will bring you all confirmed transfer news ahead of the new season.
The club also wishes to clarify the budget figures presented at the 2020 AGM last weekend regarding the playing squad.
As made clear at the AGM, the football budget outlined is not a playing budget but a budget to cover all football costs. This includes staff and player costs, as well as medical costs, insurance, travel and food.
Due to the loss of income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the club is operating on a reduced budget from last season.
Finally, Wrexham AFC would also like to wish Jason Oswell (AFC Telford United), Doug Tharme (Curzon Ashton), Leighton McIntosh (Cove Rangers) and Jake Lawlor (Harrogate Town) well at their new clubs, following their departure from the Racecourse at the end of last season.
