Work on the Racecourse Ground’s hallowed turf is well underway, as we work to improve the playing surface for the new season.

The work includes expanding the grassed area, digging the new LED boards in and adding a 3G surface in the dug-out areas and down to the tunnel.

Drainage will also be improved, with secondary drainage through sand slits throughout the whole pitch reinstated.

Contractors are currently working on removing last season’s pitch, while a new drain will be added at the Kop End and sprinklers moved to accommodate the expanded grass area too.

The pitch is one of many parts of the stadium receiving a facelift throughout pre-season, with work on the club shop also underway as well as refurbishment of spectator facilities in the Mold Road and Yale Stands.

Significant changes are also planned for the WrexRent Stand, following consultation with AFL Architects.
