ALS Contracts moved in at the Racecourse last week to commence works on the pitch which continued in to this week.
They used a koro to remove the existing grass and replaced the top drains. After further grading and cultivation of the surface, top dressing is added before finally seeding the exposed ground to allow fresh new grass to grow.
Media Manager Carl Hogan said: "A report carried out by independent consultants on the playing surface during last season said that the top drains needed to be replaced.
"Most supporters will be aware that Wrexham AFC are not holding any concerts this summer and we are planning to host pre-season friendlies instead. The work is on track to be completed on schedule and once it is complete, it will take around eight to nine weeks for the pitch to be playable once again.
"This work was planned some time ago to enable us to secure the services of ALS Contracts, who worked to recover the pitch last year after the Stereophics concert and they also worked on our training pitches at Nine Acre last summer.
"The pitch played excellently last season, which is a huge credit to Paul Chaloner and the grounds staff. We had no games called off and it held up to some quite frankly extreme rainfall against both Boston and Harrogate. This summer's work will hopefully see the same standard continue in to next season."
Wrexham AFC will be announcing our pre-season schedule in the coming weeks.
