Mike Newell

Mike was a talented striker who made over 500 appearances scoring 119 goals for the likes of Wigan Athletic, Leicester City, Everton, Blackburn, Birmingham City, Aberdeen and Blackpool.

After his successful 19-year playing career came to an end he has managed Hartlepool United, Luton Town and Grimsby Town. He has also spent time as a first team coach at Accrington Stanley and most recently Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia.

His most successful time as manager was leading Luton to the Championship, winning League One with 98 points along the way. He now links up with new first team manager Graham Barrow for the first time since they played at Wigan together from 1983 to 1986 as his Assistant.
