Wrexham AFC can confirm that a total of five players from within the club have tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result of this, the Club’s Covid Medical Officer and the National League’s Covid Medical Officer have been in discussions.

Their recommendation is that as a precaution all those players and staff who travelled by coach to Solihull Moors for last Saturday’s FA Cup tie should now self-isolate.

Only one of the players who has since tested positive played in last Tuesday night’s match against Barnet.

This means our National League fixture with Sutton United, due this Saturday, will be postponed until a later date and with no game the following weekend, our next scheduled fixture is away to Weymouth on Saturday, 14 November.

As always, the safety of players, staff and other club employees is of overriding concern and we wish those directly affected well, although at present, all of the players seem to be in good spirits.

Staff will be devising a return-to-play protocol for our affected players and helping the fit players to maintain their conditioning, so as to ensure we are ready to resume play as soon as it is safe to do so.

Our thanks also go to Sutton United for their understanding in these difficult times.
