Following the announcements by the UK Government yesterday and the suspension of the National League until 3rd April at the earliest we at Wrexham AFC will do our best to keep supporters updated on the situation as we realise this is an unprecedented time and one of great worry for many people.
Can we share our utmost sympathy for anyone in the Wrexham AFC family who are impacted by the current situation.
The impact goes beyond health and many people will be facing financial insecurity or indeed isolation from other members of society.
We know the Wrexham AFC community is a caring one so we’d encourage people to reach out to other Wrexham AFC fans they know and make sure they are OK, especially the elderly or those with underlying health conditions.
Onto club matters, the Board want to assure supporters that Wrexham AFC is a financially stable club and there are no immediate issues caused by the suspension of the League.
We will continue to monitor the situation as things develop with COVID-19.
As a result of the suspension and the ongoing implications of minimising social contact we have taken the following decisions with immediate effect:
- First Team and Youth Team Players have been issued with strict training regimes and monitoring provision to complete training at their home locations – this has been put in place until Wednesday 25th March
- All employees who can work from home away from the Racecourse as per the Government guidelines are being requested to do so
- We will continue to closely monitor the situation with our employees who are self isolating
- The Club shop remains open at this point in time, but we would ask that people who are showing symptoms of constant coughing or a high temperature stay away from the Racecourse.
On Thursday we will hold a Wrexham AFC Board meeting to look at next steps and how we best organise ourselves to get through the tough months ahead.
We continue to urge all supporters not to contact the club directly at this time and watch for announcements via our website and social media outlets as we will be unable to deal with huge volumes of calls.
Lastly please stay safe, look after each other and stick together. Hopefully we can emerge stronger as a result on the other side of this.
The Board of Wrexham AFC.
