With Dean Keates’s 2018 team currently pushing hard for the Club’s aim of promotion to the Football League; it’s time to reflect on the past as it's 25 years since Brian Flynn’s prodigies succeeded in taking Wrexham from the then Division Three to Division Two.
With this in mind Wrexham Supporters Trust are organising a reunion of the 1992/93 promotion winning side, as an opportunity for its members to show their appreciation to a team that produced so many memorable moments during that never to-be-forgotten season.
Who will ever forget the promotion clinching match at Northampton Town and the thousands of fans who travelled to the old County Ground on a Tuesday night?
All of the players and management from that 1992/93 squad have been invited, and so far we have had a great response with Joey Jones, Gary Bennett, Steve Watkin, Karl Connolly, Mel Pejic, Waynne Phillips, Mark Morris, Jonathan Cross and Barry Jones all agreeing to attend, making the effort to catch up with old friends for an afternoon of reminiscing.
The informal get-together will begin with introductions, a two-course dinner, during which the season's highlight DVD will be shown to remind us all of such a memorable campaign in Wrexham’s history. This will be followed by a top comedian and a Q&A session with all the players present, whilst supporters will also be invited to share their memories.
The Centenary Club will provide the venue, open from 12.30 for a 1.00pm start on Sunday, 25 February 2018, and the cost is just £20 per person - with tickets available from the Club Shop or online at the club website - click here
Whether you witnessed this memorable season in person; have seen the DVD; or heard about this team from your parents, grandparents or friends - the opportunity to meet the players who achieved this feat and listen to their memories is not to be missed - so book your tickets now and don't miss out on this great event.
