Halifax-born Jake Lawlor joined the Dragons for an undisclosed fee on deadline day in August 2018

The centre-half began his career with Ossett Town in the Northern Premier whilst studying Sports Business Management at Sheffield Hallam University, whilst he also had a spell with Harrogate Railway Athletic.

In January 2013 after completing his studies, the defender joined Guiseley where he would achieve great success over a period of five years, including scoring the winning goal in the 2015 National League North play-off final against AFC Fylde.

Lawlor was an important mainstay in the side that kept their place in non-league’s top tier in the coming seasons but after five years he’d eventually depart on a temporary basis to AFC Fylde in March 2018.

He made his Coasters debut away to Barrow with Fylde running out 1-3 winners at Holker Street and would make a further six appearances for his new side, the final being a play-off defeat to Boreham Wood in May 2018.

In the summer of 2018 he departed Nethermoor Park permanently following the Lions’ relegation from the National League and joined newly-promoted Salford City.

However, his time with the Ammies was cut short after just seven games of the National League campaign. Lawlor – seeking more game time – decided to take the opportunity to depart Moor Lane and sign for Wrexham on deadline day for an undisclosed fee.

He made his Dragons debut three days later in September 2018, helping his new side to a clean sheet in 0-0 draw with FC Halifax Town at a packed Racecourse Ground.
