Young defender Jordon Thompson joined the Dragons on transfer deadline day in January 2020, penning an initial 28-day loan from Coventry City.

Thompson began life in the youth team at QPR before departing Loftus Road in 2015 and signing for Coventry's academy. The Islington-born defender signed his first professional deal in 2017 and in September of that year headed out on loan for the first time. Thompson landed in the north-west with Barrow in the National League, making his senior debut in a 1-1 draw with Torquay United.

After making eight appearances for the Bluebirds he returned to the Sky Blues, making his debut for the senior side in the EFL Trophy in November 2017.

Following heavy involvement with the first-team, Thompson lined up to make his debut in the league for City, taking on Scunthorpe United in Sky Bet League One on the opening day of the 2018/19 season. He finished the season with eight appearances in all competitions for the side.

At the beginning of 2019/20 he joined Boreham Wood on loan in the National League making a total of eight appearances before returning to Coventry and joining the Dragons in January 2020.

His Wrexham debut came 24 hours after signing in a 0-0 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge.
