The Nottingham-born forward began life in football with Derby County as a youngster, and made his Rams debut at the age of 19 in an EFL Championship clash with Leeds United in November 2014.
In January 2015 he signed for Notts County on loan, making his debut in League One against Crewe Alexandra. He returned to Pride Park in the February making four more appearances for Derby in all competitions.
In the summer of 2015 he joined Blackpool on a short-term loan making 22 total appearances in League One and cup competitions.
Thomas' next stop was Coventry City in the summer of 2016, making his debut on the opening day of the new campaign against Swindon Town in League One. Thomas' first career goal came in February 2017 upon his return from injury against Oldham Athletic. He went on to score another couple of goals that campaign.
In September 2017 he joined Sutton United on loan for a brief spell, before heading to Solihull Moors on loan scoring four goals for the side from Damson Park during the 2018/19 season.
He joined Solihull permanently in 2018 making a handful of appearances, and spent time on loan with Kidderminster Harriers. In 2019 he earned a move to Doncaster Rovers scoring three goals in ten games before a spell with Burton Albion.
In the summer of 2020 he signed for Wrexham making his debut in a 2-1 win over Boreham Wood. He scored his first goal in a 1-0 win over Yeovil Town a week later.
