Centre-half Manny Smith signed for Wrexham in the summer of 2017, a year after his initial spell came to an end.

The midlands-based defender began his career with Walsall and graduated from the youth team in 2006 to sign his first professional contract.

Manny spent time on loan with Halesowen before he went on to make almost 150 appearances for the Saddlers in a three year stint, before he made his way to Meadow Lane and signed for Notts County.

With the Magpies he made 29 league appearances but was released in 2014. He joined Wrexham on trial and impressed then manager Kevin Wilkin enough to earn a one-year contract. He went on to spend two years with the Dragons before he was released by Gary Mills.

Smith was picked up by Gateshead in 2016 where played 44 league games but opted to end his stay early to link back up with the Dragons ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Smith’s second Wrexham debut came on the opening day of the 2017/18 campaign in a 1-0 loss at the Racecourse.

Smith grabbed his first goals three days later in a 2-1 win, with the centre-half grabbing both goals at Maidenhead’s York Road.

He’d have a third later on in the season in a 4-0 win over Torquay United but will be known for his part in Wrexham’s record breaking defence keeping 22 clean sheets.
