Experienced defender Shaun Brisley joined Wrexham in the summer of 2021.

The Macclesfield-born centre back began his career in his home town, signing professional terms with the Silkmen in 2007. Brisley made his senior debut in March 2008 in a League Two match at home to Notts County. Weeks later he scored his first and second career goals in a 2-1 victory over Accrington Stanley.

In 2012 Brisley moved to Championship club Peterborough United on an initial loan spell before jonining Posh that summer. Brisley made the step up having made over a century of league appearances for Macclesfield in his five years at Moss Rose.

His Peterborough debut came during the 2011/12 season, making his debut in March 2012 in a 3-1 win over Blackpool. During his time at London Road he made 39 appearances in the Championship.

In the latter stages of his Posh career he would spend time with Scunthorpe United and Northampton Town and Leyton Orient.

Brisley went on to sign for Carlisle United in 2016 where he spent a season - scoring twice in 28 league games. His next stop came at Meadow Lane, joining Notts County on a two-year deal.

His Notts debut came against Coventry City on the opening day of the League Two season, and scored his first Magpies goal in a League Cup tie with Scunthorpe United - a stoppage time equaliser at Glanford Park.

The defender made over 50 league appearances for County before his departure in 2019 before heading to Port Vale. Brisley battled back to full-fitness before making his first Valiants appearance against his former club Macclesfield.

Brisley totalled 43 games in Staffordshire before leaving the club in the summer of 2021. He became Phil Parkinson's first signing at Wrexham in July 2021 penning a 2-year deal.
