Rebecca Pritchard wrote her name in Wrexham AFC folklore with the only goal of the game in the 2023 play-off final to seal promotion to the top flight.

It was a goal which changed the face of North Welsh women’s football, allowing Wrexham to become the first Club in the country to turn semi-pro as a result – and unsurprisingly, Pritchard was in the first group of ten players handed a semi-pro contract by the Club.

The winger, who can also play at full-back, started her journey with Wrexham as a teenager with the former Wrexham Ladies team – reaching the FAW Women’s Cup semi-finals in 2015.

Pritchard spent time with both Everton and Aston Villa as a youngster, and was capped at Wales Under-17 level, and returned to Wrexham in 2021 after most recently playing for Brislington.

A tenacious attacking player, she had already scored some notable goals for the team – including turning in a Player of the Match performance at the Racecourse in the friendly against Northop Hall Ladies in 2021.

Pritchard also scored Wrexham AFC Women’s first ever goal against top-flight opposition since their reformation, setting the team on the way to a cup upset against TNS in October 2022.

After her play-off goal, the popular winger then scored Wrexham’s first Genero Adran Premier goal on the opening day against Swansea in September 2023.
